Selection Rules for JAAS Annual Award for the Best Article in Asian Studies

The JAAS Annual Award for the Best Article in Asian Studies is awarded to outstanding articles published by young JAAS members during the past year (from July 1 of the previous year to June 30 of the present year). Eligible articles, establishment of a selection committee and selection process are defined as follows:

  • Eligible articles are those published in Aziya Kenkyu (Asian Studies) or recommended by JAAS members.
  • As a rule, articles recommended by JAAS members are only eligible if they are published in a refereed (peer-reviewed) journal.
  • The board of directors will appoint a number of JAAS members as members and chairperson of the JAAS Annual Award for the Best Article in Asian Studies selection committee, which will make recommendations of candidate articles.
  • Based on the recommendation of the selection committee, the board of directors will deliberate and decide the winner.
